Product Questions
Answers here are general information about Hammer Nutrition products. For advice about a medical condition, speak to your doctor. Questions about a specific product? Email sales@hammernutrition.ph.
Why do Hammer fuels use tapioca-derived maltodextrin?
HEED, Sustained Energy, Perpetuem and Recoverite use maltodextrin made from tapioca (cassava root) rather than corn. Hammer made the switch because tapioca:
- requires far less processing than corn;
- has no GMO content to begin with;
- has naturally lower sodium and higher potassium;
- has a more alkaline pH;
- has a lower Dextrose Equivalent (DE), meaning less short-chain sugar and a higher share of complex carbohydrate.
What is the recommended age to start using Creatine Boost?
Most sports and medical organisations recommend that anyone under 18 does not use creatine supplements. Creatine is found in many foods, mainly meat such as beef and pork, and in smaller amounts in beans, lentils, nuts and seeds, and younger athletes can get what they need from food.
Why does Hammer Nutrition avoid citric acid?
Many companies use citric acid as a flavour enhancer and preservative. Hammer avoids it in its fuels, especially HEED, because it is very acidic (pH around 2.0 to 3.25). Sipped frequently during exercise, acidic drinks can be hard on the stomach and on tooth enamel.

How much sodium is in a serving of Race Day Boost?
Every four-capsule serving of Race Day Boost contains 1,000 mg of sodium phosphate, of which 300 mg is sodium. Follow the directions on the label, and keep in mind the extra sodium when you plan your meals on the days you use it.
Are your products tested for heavy metals?
Yes. The manufacturer of Hammer Nutrition supplements requires every raw material supplier to provide a Certificate of Independent Laboratory Analysis with every shipment, covering microbial content, heavy metals, solvents and pesticides.
Why do some products show a manufacture date and a "best by" date?
Many Hammer Nutrition products show a manufacture date on the label, often written as MFG (for example, a product made on January 17, 2012 shows "MFG 011712"). Gels and powders also carry a "best by" date, the date by which the product should be used for best results:
- Hammer Gel: five years from manufacture.
- Powdered fuels and Perpetuem Solids: three years from manufacture.
- Hammer Bars and Endurolytes Fizz: an expiration date is printed on the label.
- Supplements: use within four years of the MFG date, stored away from excessive heat and sunlight.
Are your supplements third-party tested?
Yes. Raw materials for each supplement are tested for purity, strength, identity and integrity, and every supplement is also tested at each stage of production (blending, encapsulation or powder-filling, and packaging) before it is released.
Which products are certified by Informed Sport?
Select Hammer Nutrition products are certified by Informed Sport, including Endurolytes, Endurolytes Extreme (capsules and powder) and Endurolytes Fizz.
