Q: I’ve noticed a white/grey film on the chocolate coating on some of my Hammer Whey Protein Bars and Chocolate-Peanut Vegan Protein Bars, and occasionally on the chocolate-containing flavors of Hammer Bars. What causes this and are they okay to consume?
A: The appearance that you see on the chocolate coating of the protein bars, as well as on the chocolate-containing flavors of Hammer Bars, is due to the natural composition of the chocolate coating and the likelihood that it was shipped in warm weather and/or sitting in a warm delivery truck.
This effect is called “blooming” and it’s when the oils separate and then harden. There are chemical emulsifiers that prevent this, but since the blooming effect is completely harmless—and also because we don’t want to put unnecessary chemicals in the product—we opted to not use emulsifiers. The bars are 100% acceptable for consumption.
Q: It appears that the fiber content on the Apple Cinnamon Hammer Bar decreased. Is this due to a new formulation?
A: You are correct that the fiber content decreased a bit on the Apple Oatmeal Hammer Bar. This was not due to a change in the formula, though. Instead, it was due to a new FDA classification of one of the ingredients in the bar, the tapioca syrup. At one time it was classified as a prebiotic fiber syrup, which is defined as “a nondigestible food ingredient that promotes the growth of beneficial microorganisms in the intestines.” The FDA no longer allows it to be classified as a prebiotic or as a fiber, but instead just a carbohydrate source, and that’s why you see a slight decrease in the fiber content on the Oatmeal Apple Hammer Bar.
Q: The size of the various bars that you sell seem to be smaller than usual. Am I getting less than I used to?
A: Please note that all bars sold by Hammer Nutrition are sold by weight not volume. The bars’ shape has changed slightly, due to changes in the vendor’s extruder, but you can rest assured that you are getting the same bar that you always have, guaranteed by the contractual weight agreement between Hammer Nutrition and our vendors.

Yes. Every Hammer Nutrition product we sell comes straight from Hammer Nutrition USA, based in Whitefish, Montana. We are Hammer Nutrition Philippines, the official distributor of Hammer Nutrition in the Philippines, and we import directly from Hammer Nutrition USA. You can buy from us here on hammernutrition.ph, from our official Lazada and Shopee stores, or from the authorised dealers listed on our Dealer Locator.
It depends on the batch we have in stock. Right now most of our stock has at least a year left, and many items have 2 to 4 years, with expiry dates running up to 2031. Hammer Nutrition supplements also show a manufacture (MFG) date on the label. If you need a specific expiry date, message us by email at sales@hammernutrition.ph or on Viber before you order and we will check it for you. We update this FAQ as new stock arrives.

As an endurance horse rider (riding 25-75 miles a day), I use several Hammer products. I start each ride with a Hammer bar for good fuel and often have one at a vet check when we have a minute to fuel up for upcoming miles. They are all good flavors so the variety pack worked for me. I don't like eating anything heavy during a race and these, along with gel packs, do the trick.
